Day 3 - AEDM & Nablopomo - another sketch

thank you all for the great feedback on yesterday's post!

i'm afraid today's post will be shorter as i'm battling a rotten migraine probably due to the heart stress test i did earlier today....my neck is so stiff and sore.   good news - they didn't find any abnormalities! YAY!

anywhoo, before the migraine reared its head, i managed to quickly start another life sketch. i just need to splash on some colour, more details and writing.  again, i sketched directly with my trusty pigma micron pen.

the sketch is of my buddha belly plant (botanical name - Jatropha podagrica) which has been flowering for a few weeks now.
the leaves are 2½ times the size of my hand!

by the way, my brother's surgery for the kidney removal went reasonably well.
we pray all the test results will be clear.

now, i'm off to lie down and will hopefully wake up minus a migraine

~ love, light and peace ~

Great post, Mum!

I really hope your migraine goes away soon, that's not good you've got it. It's understandable that the test could be the result of it. Not good about your neck. YAY! I'm so happy to hear they didn't find anything wrong, that is such a relief!

That's a great sketch of your Buddha Belly plant! I'm looking forward to seeing the end picture! The photos of it also look great!

Hopefully, the sleep will get rid of the migraine.

Love Brad!

Another plant I had never heard of till I met you living down under. ;)
I never thought to put in a link to the AEDM folks. I'll try to remember that next time.

Hi Serena, that a great sketch and what a beautiful plant that is. I'm sure your sketch will be just awesome when you complete it. Glad your brother is doing okay, and really glad to hear your tests were fine. Migraine headaches are awful, but they do have medicine for them now. My son Val used to have really bad and during those days all he took was aspirin and that didn't help. I'd massage around his temples and he had to put a tight headband around his head because they hurt so bad. See the doctor about migraine pills, they have them. Take care. Nice job on your piece.

Hi Serena, I sure hope that a night's sleep was able to rid you of that migraine. So nice to see you sketching every day. I've not heard of a Buddha Belly plant. Speaking of Buddha, Zack has to write a paper on Buddha for English class. :) I look forward to seeing how you finish off your beautiful drawing. Wishing you a great new day. Tammy

Hope you feel better soon. Actually this sketch without the colours looks pretty cool. For some reason it just reminds me of fairytales.

You've sketched another interesting plant that I know nothing about. I like that you just sketch with the pen. I'd have a huge mess if I dit that.

Hope your migraine goes away fast.

Hope the head ache has faded this morning and you can get some colour onto that beautiful sketch... I have been trying to sketch with pen directly also, and like the pressure and focus it is giving me... and if there is something I need it is focus... happy painting today xx

Serena, thank you so much for the comments you've left on my blog. I love your art! Your plant is absolutly beautiful! I have never seen anything like it! I can't wait to see the finished painting of it. I have a hard time keeping some plants going here in Alaska with so much darkness during the winter. It's really dry too so I'm always misting them. They are my babies though and many of them have names cause I'm weird like that. hehe
I hope your migraine goes away fast. I know what that is like and I'm impressed that you posted at all with one brewing. Glad your test went well! I'll be praying for your brother too. Take care!

i haven't seen a buddha belly plant before, are they only good for the hotter states? I wonder if one would survive here in Melbourne.
Good on your test results but bad on the reaction to it.
