thanks so much for all the well wishes yesterday
i think my migraine came about from a mix of stress and hormones. stress because i was setting up my son's new laptop and there was a bit of a hiccup trying to get it to recognise our wifi connection. the wifi on/off switch didn't get any reaction at all. after what seemed like forever, i magically did something that finally had it recognising our wifi again....just don't ask me what i did because i have no idea myself. i can tell you there were many screams of frustration and possibly a few tears during the whole debacle and, of course, a migraine. i was not well today either thanks to migraine fall-out but, by the end of the day, i was feeling much better.
it's funny that most of my sketches this month have been, last minute, end of day tasks. today was no different and i chose to do a pen sketch of an egret in my moleskine pocket watercolour journal. i used some derwent inktense pencils for the colour.
then i went and ruined it with my messy writing. i was just not in the right frame of mind and should have listened to my inner voice that was screaming NO, DON'T DO IT! ah well, lesson learned and, it's a journal after all, so it will do.i think my migraine came about from a mix of stress and hormones. stress because i was setting up my son's new laptop and there was a bit of a hiccup trying to get it to recognise our wifi connection. the wifi on/off switch didn't get any reaction at all. after what seemed like forever, i magically did something that finally had it recognising our wifi again....just don't ask me what i did because i have no idea myself. i can tell you there were many screams of frustration and possibly a few tears during the whole debacle and, of course, a migraine. i was not well today either thanks to migraine fall-out but, by the end of the day, i was feeling much better.

until tomorrow
~ love, light and peace ~
Your work is amazing! I don´t see your page ruined at all. You have a lovely handwriting.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the Laptop Wifi fairies came and helped save the day! Messy writing? OMgoodness! I can't write that nicely on a good day! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are feeling a bit better and hope you continue on that track.
Much love & hugs!
I often have no clue as to what I did to get things to work when it comes to the techie stuff--LOL! Or I leave them alone and let them heal themselves...sometimes works quite well, too. So glad you got them connected. Computer stuff gives me a headache every time--LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love-love-love your egret!!! And your handwriting doesn't ruin it at all! My goodness, you're as hard on yourself as I am--ha! When WE know we could have done it better, we kick ourselves. (You do have gorgeous handwriting.) But if it was a little off from what YOU would have liked--that is just proof of your bad day when you go to look back on it. You'll remember that when you are flipping through this journal a decade from now. It makes it more personal, more intimate. It's perfect, Serena. Just perfect!
Love your egret. Not ruined at all. If you choose to use him for something later, just leave the back of the page blank and you can cut and paste him somewhere else :).
ReplyDeleteStay inspired!
I'm so sorry you're not feeling well Serena. Migraines are so horrific and I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy!! I really hope today finds you refreshed and feeling MUCH better! Your sketch is again, amazing!
ReplyDeleteIs your sketch book a watercolor sketch book? I'd love to start one myself, you inspire me :) You inspire us ALL!
Hugs and healthy vibes,
Darla
Sorry to hear about your migraine but the sketch is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAhhh computer woes, I have been there and hope never to go there again...:)
Have a happy day Serena!
Tina xo
The sketch is fantastic, and spoilt at all by your words. Maybe one day I should do a post with my handwriting on it, then you'll see that yours is not bad at all :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better.
x
So sorry you've not been well, and suffering migraines, Serena. Hope you are on the mend. I have migraines occasionally too, so I know how tough they can be. I find my regular yoga/meditation practice seems to help keep frequencies of migraines at bay. Oh, but you didn't ruin your egret page at all. I love this very personal art journal you're doing--so much expression! And to make you feel better, your package is on its way. ;o) Be taking good care ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI love egrets and yours is beautiful. I don't think you ruined the page at all. I think a journal page with writing on it is so much more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe that you tackled the lap top! I am so technically challenged. Your sketch is gorgeous, as always. Thank you for letting us peek inside your beautiful journals!
ReplyDeleteHi Serena! :-) This is an amazing drawing of an egret!!! :-) I really admire your talent in drawing. :-)
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better today!
xoxo

I love egrets--and this is so nice! Seeing your work really makes me want to try the inktense pencils, but am afraid of being off on another supply shopping binge... :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent work as always. Just stopped by to wish you a very
ReplyDeleteHAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOURS!
Love how this page turned out - I think we all ignore our inner voices and then regret putting words down but as you say they are journals and not meant to be perfect. Glad you're feeling better, thanks for sharing :) x
ReplyDeleteKnow the feeling Serena, had the same problem with my iphone and the ipad. Glad you got is all working now and you are feeling better. The sketch is very beautiful. You are a true artist that even a migraine can't make you put a step wrong with your sketch.
ReplyDeleteYour drawing is fabulous, Serena, and your work is always lovely. Doesn't always have to seem perfect to be just that. Glad to hear you got to feeling better. Those migraines really can do you in. My kids did something to the home computer and now I can't figure out how to get it to connect to the wifi -- very frustrating as I've already spent hours trying to figure it out, and I think my oldest son threw away the cd I need to help me out. :/ Have a fabulous Friday! Tammy
ReplyDeleteSerena, your sketch is so much more than a sketch. :-) it's fabulous! i love your work. i look forward to visiting your blog every day. Thanks for sharing.

Great sketch!!! I feel for you .... migraines are not fun and I can have jet lag from them for days. Glad you recovered quickly.
ReplyDeleteI don't think your writing ruins the page at all, makes it more you and goes with the bird :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sketch, and don't worry about your writing, it looks beautiful too! :)
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle over your "handwriting" comment. I always thing my handwriting "messes things up." I thought yours looked perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh Serena...I sure can identify with the wifi issue...it is such an exasperating thing!!! Glad you finally had the magic touch with it!!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you had two days of migraine issues...that must be just the worst. Hopefully tomorrow will be back to normal. I'm praying.
Your egret is awesome...and I think you writing looks fanciful...I love the whole thing. I need to check out the inktense pencils...they sure look good!!!
The egret is lovely and I feel like it is giving me the stink eye... just like a real egret would (water fowl seem not to like me very much)
ReplyDeleteWow I love your illustrations! They are all so pretty!

I guess my writing mustn't be as bad as I thought. I usually do my fast, messy writing for flower sketches and I kinda regretted using it for the egret. I think my neater printing style may have suited better but, as I said, it's only a journal and doesn't have to be perfect. Thanks so much for the wonderful support and encouraging words.
ReplyDeleteDarla - Yes, this one was done in my Moleskine pocket watercolour sketchbook. I have a few different journals on the go actually and, generally, if I'm working with watercolour, my choice will be a watercolour sketchbook.
Wendy - too funny about the stink eye comment. lol
Tammy - I feel your pain re. the wifi connection. Good luck with getting your computer to recognise the wifi...if I knew what I actually did to correct our problem, I would gladly help.
I like with lettering, gives extra dimension. :-)
