Day 28 - AEDM & Nablopomo - Tea for One

Hi everyone,

I really didn't think I was going to manage my sketch today as I had a doctor's appointment this morning and then Michelle (daughter) and Mikayla (granddaughter) called in for a visit. It was so lovely to spend time with them. You must get sick of me saying this but I love my little granddaughter SO much! Her smile is infectious.

As for the doctor's appointment, I don't need a back scan as he feels this particular back pain is associated with my gynaecological issues. It looks like a hysterectomy will definitely be on the cards. :(

Before I knew it, late afternoon had arrived and I needed to start the curry for dinner. I don't know how I did it but I actually managed to squeeze in some time for a very quick sketch.

The subject for my sketch was a little 'Tea for One' set. The top half is a little teapot and the bottom half is the teacup hence the two handles. I've always thought these sets to be really cute.

Pencil-free sketch using Pigma Micron pens and Derwent Inktense water-soluble pencils in Moleskine pocket watercolour sketchbook.

It's been fun AND challenging at times.

  1. So,so, so ,so cute! I saw one in a shop the other day, but not as pretty as this.
Does your art give you some pain relief?
    I was just wondering:)
(Artwork as good as this ought to give some extra benefit....give something back to he artist!)
Have as good as day as you can.

  4. I too understand your love for your granddaughter. My grandson bring such joy everytime I am with them.
Your teapot for one is beautiful. I used to collect teacups and pots but never had one just for me. Might be a good present to myself.

Hope you are having a pain free day.

  6. Oh, but you've captured the spirit of that tea pot so festively, Serena! In fact, dare I say, your version is even more pretty??!! Very sweet and charming. The Inktense pencils worked really great on this one. So sorry about your health problems...and that a hysterectomy is very likely. Sending LOTS of healing vibes and keeping you in my metta-loveingkindness prayers. Have a good week... I'm unveiling a new painting today, very exciting. :o) ((HUGS))

  7. Sorry to hear about the hysterectomy looming, but that actually sounds better to me than permanent back issues if that does the trick. Your body is definitely telling you something, that's for sure. Sorry you have been in so much pain lately, my friend. :(

But love that you had time with Michelle and Mikayla!! That little girl would lift the spirits of anyone!

Love this little teapot!!! Both the sketch and the real thing. So cute!! Hand in there. November is almost over. :):)

  11. Pen only? That is like the people who do the New York Times crossword in pen. Your sketching and colors rock - hope the back thing is resolved for you in the best possible way!
